In a recent writing, Stuart B Allen discussed how the accounting field has been shifting over the past few years due to a large number of CPAs retiring, new complex tax laws, and barriers to exam entry in the accounting profession. Major updates are in the works thanks to membership-supported efforts by the Oregon Society of CPAs (OSCPAs) to better the industry, including: 💡Sponsoring Oregon Legislature to pass the 120-hour sitting bill allowing students who have 120 hours of qualifying education to sit for the exam, reducing barriers to entry; 💡Partnering with the BOA (Board of Accountancy) and others to streamline exams entry and licensure; and 💡Providing forums for participants to contribute insight and new ideas. Changes are underway that will open the door to many new applicants. However, this evolution will still likely take significant time to unfold and adapt to current demands in the accounting profession. https://lnkd.in/gaw-JKgJ
